Cattle Wreck

Cattle prices were at $0.50 today when they were $1.17 a couple of month ago. With breakevens of $1.10, (industry average), feedlot operators are losing between $800 - $1000 per head. The industry is going broke and without the border open, we are joining them in 4 - 6 months. This is the worst wreck anyone could have ever dreamed of. There is an “aid’ program from the government that will bail out producers to some extent, but minimum $250 losses are a reality for even the quick sellers before the major market slide.

That is reality. Reality will hurt us all this time.

New Sony Laptop

I am not sure if I even talked about the purchase of our new laptop. It is the property of the gym because we are going to use it for all the accounting and cardlock purposes. It really is a wicked laptop though!!

It has the ability to take the sony digital camera memory stick and plug it right into the laptop! That is the benefit of going with a Sony laptop! The compatibilty of it!

The laptop is a P4 2.0 Gig with 256 megs of Ram and a 40 gig hard drive. It also has a DVD player and a CD Writer in it. It is better than both Tammy’s and my computer put together!

Grand Opening Tomorrow!

The official grand opening of our gym, Get Fit, is tomorrow starting at 1pm! It is so exciting!

First a little background information before we move onto the details of the event.

We finished getting all the equipment together including the tanning bed and all the walls were finished. That was great. All that was left was the tanning bed, the satelite system, the cardlock system and some wiring.

The wiring went fairly well with us running some RCA cables towards where the TV is. That included me drilling 2 “big’ holes in the wall and running the cables. Not a big deal.

The satelite was easy with me running a cable from the newly installed dish through the attic and drilling a hole down towards the TV. Dave Lane helped us get it going with the satelite finder and we are off to the races.

The tanning bed was difficult for us because we had to search all over for the right ’spec’ cables and breakers. Keith Almberg installed it for us and it works great. That fucking bed is hot!

The timer on the bed was a little difficult to get working, but after reading the directions for the bed and the timer, we peiced it together.

The cardlock system scared the living shit out of me. Keith got the system going, the readers and the door strike going, but we couldn’t get it to connect to the computer. We checked all the wires and I couldn’t get it going.

Here it was Thursday morning and I couldn’t get it going. It dawned on me to check the settings again and I found out there was a jumper on the main panel out. After changing it, the computer hooked up with the green lights off a Christmas tree!

I hooked up a couple of cards and it works perfectly. The door knob is a commercial knob that allows us to have it locked at all times. It only unlocks with the key or when the strike allows it to. It is perfect. The entire system is perfect. We love it!

So back to the details of the big event. We have business cards, magnets, t-shirts, golf shirts and stickers with our logos on them. We are going to give some of them away for promotion and wear the rest for promotion.

We gathered huge amounts of fruits, vegtables and bagels to round out the food requirements for the big event. We also have some juice boxes to get our thirst quenched.

We also are installing our water cooler tomorrow morning and have Coke bringing us a “machine’ for powerade and water sometime in the next week.

The sign didn’t seem to get finished, so we are going to install it over the main door early next week.

That is the update. We sold a year membership to Kelly already and he also bought some tanning minutes. Now, all we have to do is get the rest of the community to join. That sounds harder than it is!!..or is it the other way around?

I guess time will tell!!.
