Rio Karma and Puretracks.com
The Rio Karma far exceeds the player I had before in the RCA Lyra. While it doesn’t support viewing photos and videos, that functionality is so far down the totem pole for me right now, I won’t miss it a bit!!
There player is super quick on playing songs and going to the next one. The functionality is options during the song is also just supurb! Another thing I like is that you can search for another song while the player is playing a song. All functions that the RCA Lyra didn’t do.
The player is supposed to play tracks from Puretracks.com, but I couldn’t get them to work. It turns out that I found that the songs are not playing in Windows Media Player 9 either!
After some research, I found that not only must you backup the songs themselves, you need to backup the license for the songs as well or they will not play. The license for each song is in another directory and not contained with the songs themselves. This was a fucking wreck for me since I copied the songs only to another directory before scrubbing ME and putting on XP. The licenses were fucking gone.
Puretracks.com suggests that you download the songs to a new directory again from their site to get the licenses back. I did this a downloaded songs for several fucking hours last night and finally went to sleep. The songs were still downloading this morning when I got up.
I tried the new songs in Windows Media Player 9 again and they still don’t fucking work! FUCK! I placed a helpdesk query with Puretracks and am still waiting for a response. I sure as fuck don’t want to buy all the same songs again if I can’t get the licenses to work.
Next time I will sure as fuck backup the licenses and the songs!!.
