bbPress Forum Moderator

Not many of you know this, but I really spend a great deal of my spare time working with the communities of the software programs that I use for my websites. From 2002 until 2005, I used NucleusCMS as my first choice for my blog software and phpBB as my forum software. I really used Nucleus for everything that I did on the web and became a forum moderator to assist in the helping of users of that program in their support forums. It was a good time and Nucleus is a great software package.
In 2005, I started to try other blogging and forum software packages including MovableType, Expression Engine and Punbb. They are all great software packages, but they didn’t quite fit what I was hoping for as the package is only part of it. The support and userbase is the other. I stayed with Nucleus.
It wasn’t until the summer of 2005 that I started running my personal journal (private blog) with Wordpress to test it out. I was so taken back by such a great software package! It is the easiest package to use and modify with plugins and presentation themes! With Nucleus, I found myself sometimes having to do core hacks to accomplish some of the things I needed done. This is not the case in Wordpress because I have yet to not find a plugin for every thing I needed!
Since then, I gradually put more and more sites into Wordpress and transferred existing sites into it as well. It wasn’t until 4 weeks ago that I officially had every single blog I use (20 in total) into Wordpress. I can’t seem to think of one reason why this shouldn’t be the case because even since my first install, it just keeps getting better!
A month ago, I came across bbPress, a product created out of the developers of Wordpress. It is a simple, yet effective software package that runs a forum. It is faster and less bloated than phpBB and works on many of the same principles of Wordpress. Top that off with a simple integration of logins between the 2 and I was there! I converted this main forum over and will never look back.
Being the community junkie that I am, I found myself posting a considerable amount on the support forums for bbPress and came to the conclusion that if I spend a great deal of time here, I might as well try and help to the best of my ability with the necessary tools. I requested forum Moderator status from the developers and they made me one today!
I thank both Matt and Micheal very much for this position and will do my best to make the community better! The users are great and the support level is the highest I have ever seen with both bbPress and Wordpress. That is a bigger compliment than you might think! Believe me, I have seen most of the communities…
bbPress is located at http://bbpress.org. If you don’t have it and want a forum, check it out. If you have trouble with getting it going, I imagine I will see you in the forums to solve all your problems!
99 Reasons Why 99 is The Great One

NHL.com had posted quite some time ago, 99 reason why Wayne Gretzky is the Great One. I finally found it and read it after going down memory lane with YouTube the other night. Here is what they say:
- At the age of 10, Gretzky scores 378 goals in Brantford’s atom league - still an age group record.
- While playing in the prestigious International Pee Wee Hockey Tournament in Quebec City’s Le Colisee, the 14-year-old Gretzky is frequently besieged by autograph seekers.
- As a teenager, young Wayne often competes against players much older. At 14 he plays in Tier II junior and major junior at 15.
- Wayne first dons his now famous No. 99 jersey as a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Originally wanting to wear No. 9 like his idol Gordie Howe, Gretzky settles on his trademark number after wearing No. 19 for a few weeks
- In May 1978, Gretzky turns pro at 17 with the Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association.
- The financially strapped Indianapolis franchise trades Gretzky to the Edmonton Oilers of the WHA in May of 1978.
- In his first season with the Oilers, Gretzky registers 46 goals and 110 points on his way to capturing WHA rookie of the year honors.
- The Edmonton, Hartford, Quebec and Winnipeg franchises join the NHL for the 1979-80 season. Gretzky makes his NHL debut on Oct. 10 and registers his first career NHL point, an assist on Kevin Lowe’s goal against Chicago.
- His first NHL goal does not come until three games into the season on Oct. 14 against Glen Hanlon of the Vancouver Canucks. Read more

New YouTube Categories
November 25, 2006 by trent
Filed under just rantingI originally was only posting videos of great musical performances that I like into the YouTube category of the gallery. I decided to add some great hockey videos, so I added hockey as a category as well. Then, I decided that there are some historical events that might be worth documenting as well, so I added history. I am sure the categories will increase, but I don’t want to clog up my gallery unless there is a damb good reason!
The hockey category includes some great Gretzky videos and some fights including one that has a buddy of mine that I played hockey with, Kyle Freadrich. It was a good fight that I heard about, but never watched until yesterday! Kyle evens loses a tooth in this one.
History only has a 9/11 video that includes some of the best footage of the event from different news sources. Even today, watching it makes you sick in disbelief. It almost can’t be real. Sad day in history, but needs to be remembered.
Members, check it out at YouTube Category Of Gallery.
Non-members, just go to www.youtube.com and search!

Amazing Jay-Z Song
November 23, 2006 by trent
Filed under just rantingI made a post in the forum about the massive amount of music that I have purchased in the past while because of all the great albums that have come out lately. One of those albums was Jay-Z’s new album.
The first song that really caught my attention was a song called “Lost One” because of the piano and the beat. After listening to the lyrics, it is a better song than I want. The first verve is about people in his life not liking him making Beyonce what she is today and he had to seperate himself from them. The second verse is about losing Beyonce because she is young and work is most important to her while Jay-Z is older and needs more. The third verse is sad. It is about the loss Jay-Z had with his nephew who died at 18 in a car crash last year. Ironically, the car he gave him for a graduation present.
