Post Secret

For those of you that have a secret that you just can’t seem to part with or just can’t seem to ever let go, then maybe postsecret.com is what you need. Author Frank Warren takes postcards from all over the world about people’s darkest secrets. They can be funny, serious, sad, scary and any other emotion you can think of. It is the ability of someone to post their secret anonymously to a stranger and maybe have their secret make it to the internet. Many even find it theraputic.
This site is one of the most interesting blogs that I have had the ability to ever visit. I first heard about postsecret.com while watching a video on MuchMusic from The All American Rejects called “Dirty Little Secret”. Once I understood the site, I just keep coming back to it.
It has been featured on Good Morning America and recently on CNN. I suggest if you haven’t already, you check out this site. It might be worth your while.

I am really suprised! I came across this video while I was still figuring out whether or not wordpress.com would be a nice place to retire to for my blogs once I got off my own hosting. It still only has 126 views. That is suprising! It is a good video!
New Family Tree

I think that this will be the last major change that I am making for you poor people for quite some time. As many of you know, I am dropping my server and started placing my sites all over the place on other services. The blogs are all over at wordpress.com under my domain names, the gallery is over at Flickr.com, the videos are over at youtube.com and now the family tree is over at ancestry.ca
It is of course linked in the blogroll on the side of this page. You will be required to create an account (where have you heard that from me before) and then you will have access to the tree and be able to make changes. It really isn’t a big deal because only Erin and I edited the entire tree before anyways….
Digital Upload Frenzy

I really only moved my gallery over to Flickr and YouTube over the past couple of weeks. It has been stupid crazy at work and my spare time has been consumed with upload, upload, post and post. It has been a tiring process and here it is 1am on Sunday morning and I just finished. Here are the stats:
Flickr Photos Uploaded: 1,624 photos
YouTube Videos Uploaded: 102 videos
Mp3’s Uploaded to WP.com: 26 mp3’s
There really isn’t any other way to say this. I am really damb happy this is over, so I can concentrate on the business of blogging something that means something. That or just relaxing in my spare time because this habit is killing me!
bbPress: Pro Forum Website

It has been discussed that bbPress will not really work on some documentation pieces until we can hit some of our milestones that would slow the development process. Right now, we are on 0.75 with 0.8 coming out here soon. Then it will be 1.0 and 1.5 not all that far behind maybe later this year.
The plugin repository is a great place to keep plugins stored and documented. I urge all plugin authors to keep placing up their new versions there.
In the meantime, there are plugins and themes being talked about on a regular basis in the forums and it is really hard to keep up. Thanks to Brad Bolman, most of this is actually keeping up better than you would think with his site, Pro Forum. The site is dedicated to posting up releases, plugins, news and themes as they are released in bbPress as a central place to keep up with the news without reading each and every post in the forum!
As of today, I have asked Brad if he would let me help out with the site and updates. He has agreed and now I am an author for Pro Forum as well. If you want the scaled down version of what is going on with bbPress, this site is where you want to be!
Slow Learner, Fast Learner

Sometimes when you look at your life you realize there are things you are really adapted to and many more things that you are either naive or just slow at. When it comes to things related to my business ventures, I would like to think that I am a faster learner. Being a commodity trader forces you to be quick and extremely adaptive. You have to be able to change your mind and your direction 180 degrees in a matter of minutes or you will not survive. It is the nature of the business and it is fast.
Things that I am really slow at seems to be with some of my greatest loves, the web. With coding, I don’t do enough research on the proper ways to do things, but rather, focus more on just getting it to work for me. That is were I am not really a good coder. I don’t seem to have the patience or the ability to make things universal with something that I am not really interested in. I am a slow learner and will eventually get better at it, but I need to learn the right way to do it.
Being a fast learner on some topics is a great asset. This includes reading people in business and reading people in games such as poker. That can really be loads of fun. Reading someone incorrect isn’t a big deal if you can change 180 in an instance. Slow learner syndrome will be a downfall, but with practise you can get better.
I am really a slow learner with things like video chat. My wife and I finally started video conferencing when I am on the road or in my office. It works great and gives you the feel that you are really almost there. I was a slow learner on this topic and yet with technology and gadgets, I am usually an early adaptor!
It is funny how we seem to adapt well to certain things and really suck in other things. Knowing which ones you are good or bad at is an asset. Knowing which ones you can improve on and which ones are important can be a competitive edge. Doing something to better yourself will make a difference.
