The wordpress community has release Wordpress 2.3.2 as a “bug fix release” to a couple of potential exploits of the “draft” functions.   It is recommended to upgrade if you use drafts and future posts features.    It also has an added feature for users to define a custom “error page” if you lose connectivity to your database!    You might want to check it out!

Wii and PS3

We have had a Wii in our household for quite some time now and it really is a pretty wicked system! Especially when you are playing with several people and it also helps to have a large TV! I am really impressed how quick Maguire is in learning to play the games with his favorites still being with the “Wii Sports” that comes with it! Virtual reality games should be big in the future.

Personally, my problem is that not all games make it over to the Wii side. There are many sports games including Hockey and others that I love that aren’t available. Top that off with some of the better games that “adults” enjoy more than small children and I was in a pinch.

So, we decided to pick up a PlayStation 3 for our household for Christmas. With the Canadian dollar being so high now, the price was substantially less. I really like the fact that we can use it as a DVD player (since our old one is FUBAR) and play some pretty amazing games!

Why a PS3 you ask? I have an Xbox (not 360) and it was fun, but a pain in the ass to keep the lens clean. It was always getting screwed up and not loading perfectly good games (or new ones). Bad taste in my mouth. I know the Xbox 360 can play all my old games as well, but I wanted a change. Maybe I will wait for the next release from Microsoft. I am sure Cat will not be impressed with me ;)
So I am a Wii and PS3 guy for now. Like everything else in life, you just do what you think is right at the time! I am happy with the choices!

Dry Christmas

I forgot to mention this story, but I thought it was quite amusing if nothing else.   I went to my sister’s place on Christmas Day and we arrived at her house in Calgary around 2pm.    We were hoping to grab some alcohol on the way managed to not find a single liquor store open.    That was not really that amazing since it was Christmas and all.

What was amazing was the drive around Calgary that I took afterwards realizing that the limited wine that my sister had in her house wasn’t going to cut it for our Christmas cheer.  I ended up looking in all four corners of the city for a liquor store that was open and found absolutely nothing!    This included 17th, Macleod Trail, Westhills, Sunridge, Univerity and several other mainstream locations!    I didn’t find anything but about 100 closed liquor stores!

By the time I ended up back at my sister’s place it was late and we didn’t feel like drinking anymore!   It was a fun, but dry Christmas!    I even thought about phoning “dial a bottle” or “dial a beer” from my college days (great friends at the time), but thought if I couldn’t find one that was open then I might be looking at $100 plus for a case of beer!    It just wasn’t worth it ;)
So my conclusion is that I think someone should keep their liquor store open on Christmas day and charge the hell out of people because after all my driving around….I would have paid ;)    Does anyone know of one that is open on Christmas day in Calgary?    Future reference of course….

Taking A Little Time Off

I have been pretty scarce when it comes to updates and most of the things that I do online for the past while here.    It has been really busy with the holidays and with other business things going on, so I haven’t had time!    I am still around, but I might be a little slow in terms of getting to my usual habits of being in the online forums and blogging!     I will be back fairly soon though!

Christmas was amazing and I got to spend time with our family!    Marnie and Matt had a new baby girl on the 25th (Christmas baby) and that is a welcome addition to the family.   I was able to see my sister’s new house and even got to spend a little time with my grandparents and Wayne, Dallas and Scott!    New Years will be will us staying close to home, but I really look forward to it and the great year of 2008!

If you are in the grain or hay markets right now, you should hold onto your hat since the “cash” market is going crazy!    All the best to everyone in the New Year!

Let It Snow!

Matt tells a funny story about not touching snow on the ground until he was 21 and that has inspired him to allow wordpress.com hosted blogs like this one to have “snow falling” until January 2nd!   I took the chance :)    Thanks Matt!
